Policy Development in St. Ailbe’s School
In St. Ailbe’s
School collaboration and partnership are important aspects of development
planning. The process of School Planning promotes the establishment of school
structures that recognise the contribution of all staff members to the standard
of education in St. Ailbe’s School and draw on the support of all partners in
shaping our future. St. Ailbe’s school has a shared responsibility for providing
a quality education.
Collaborative
whole-school Development Planning is adopted in St. Ailbe’s School, as a
strategy for improving learning outcomes for students. It provides an
opportunity to affirm existing good practice and pinpoint areas for improvement.
By highlighting challenges, it identifies key planning issues regarding the
quality of our education service at both school and system level.
The ultimate
objective of St. Ailbe’s School Planning and Development is to identify
students’ needs and to respond appropriately to them. The quality of student
learning is a core focus in development and planning activities. A challenge for
St. Ailbe’s School Planning and Development is to devise measures to promote and
support the learning of all students.
School
Development and Planning was introduced in St. Ailbe’s School to stimulate and
strengthen a culture of collaborative development and planning with a view to
promoting school improvement and effectiveness. These policies are established
in the national context of:
1. government policy on Social Inclusion, and
2. the enactment of the Education Act, 1998, which
introduced the requirement that all schools
prepare a School Plan using
collaborative process.
